Noirmoutier
From Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Noirmoutier is an island easily accessible by bridge, which simplifies the journey. At low tide, we take a submersible road, the Passage du Gois, a unique experience in the world. In general, the outward journey is on one side and the return on the other.
Many activities on the island, depending on the season: aquarium, oyster port, Herbaudière and its fishing port, castle, salt marshes, the charming fishing village of Vieil, its narrow streets and white houses with blue shutters, the Bois de La Chaise and the famous plage des dames and its beach huts, witnesses of another era. Don’t forget to try our oysters and Noirmoutier potatoes in season.
Yeu Island
Departing from Fromentine or St Gilles Croix de Vie, after a 1-hour crossing, discover island life. This unspoilt island is a must-see tourist destination for nature lovers.
Relax on one of the many sandy beaches, wild coves and cliffs. The many hiking trails on Yeu Island will lead you to unique, breathtaking panoramas. The ideal way to spend a single day is to hire bikes and ride along the wild coastline. Discover its historic remains and local craftsmen. Take the time to taste the local specialties (prune pie, for example).
Île d’Yeu is also rich in historical heritage, with its medieval castles, forts and picturesque churches. Don’t forget to visit the Vieux-Château, perched on a hill with panoramic views over the island.
